Drowning in Exams? Here's the Survival Guide You Need

March 21, 2023

Exams are such a stressful time and it's common to feel like you're drowning in a sea of notes and textbooks. It's even more paralysing when you're not sure what you need to be doing!

But fear not - we've got you covered with this exam survival guide, summarised in the infographic below! Whether you're a seasoned student or new to this, this guide breaks down what to do in the weeks leading up to your exams to help you succeed.

Two Weeks Before

The first step to surviving exams is to create an achievable study plan. This means breaking down study into manageable chunks and setting realistic goals for each day. Make sure to allocate time for relaxation and exercise to help you stay focused and motivated.

It's also important to get your notes done early. Try not to leave everything until the last minute - instead, start revising as soon as possible. This will give you plenty of time to go over everything, and ensure that you're fully prepared for whatever the exam throws at you!

One Week Before

Once you finish revising and at least a week before the real deal, start to work through past papers and practice questions. This will give you an idea of what to expect and you can learn from any mistakes you make. Plus, if you tend to blank out and panic during exams, the best way to overcome this is to get used to exam conditions.

Additionally, try teaching complex concepts to others. This will not only help deepen your understanding of the material, but also put your knowledge to the test. It's a great way to identify any gaps in your knowledge and make sure you can express what's in your head.

The Day Before

Now is the time to complete your final revision and focus on resting up. It's very, very tempting to cram, but you need a good night's sleep to retain what you've learned in the day and stay focused during the exam! Try your best to relax and remember that you've done your best to prepare.

Good luck - you've got this!
